I’ve looked at your art and I think you’re doing fantastic for just starting out.

I see in a few of your posts you’re thinking about giving up art.. If that is what you want to do on your own, I can’t stop you. However; you have the skills and potential to continue to improve. If you ever want tips or anything, feel free to come and send me an ask, or even come talk to me on DA. My username there is KaygeMonster

This is a really revolting sentiment to express.

If you think someone could be doing better, tell them how to do better. Suggest resources, give critique, do not do this. This is spiteful and seems to be a case of envy…. Especially do not tell a young artist this. We don’t all improve at the same rate and not all of us learn in the same way. For some, training is what they need while others learn well from tutorials or books or even just working things out on their own.

If you single out an artist for criticism, make sure it’s constructive.

Artists—ALL artists—already have that voice telling them how awful they are and you DO NOT NEED TO ADD TO THIS.

And for anyone who’s had the experience of being singled out like this, don’t let this stop you from making art.

Prove them wrong. Use it to fuel your improvement if you have to, but don’t ever, ever stop making art because someone else thinks you should.
